Speaker at Reasons To Be Creative conference

Firstly, I had a blast! The Reasons To Be Creative conference/festival was such a great opportunity to meet people and meet luminaries across the creative and tech fields. So inspiring!

My session was titled “Welcome UFO People” and related to a quote by author Tim Robbins, “Be your own flying saucer, rescue yourself”. I spoke for 45 minutes on breaking down the misconceptions and barriers between tech and creativity, demoing codeless services (which allow non-devs to create their own IoT products), as well as showcasing experiments and client work.

A big thank you to John Davey and his team for having me.

Session description:

Ideas are great aren’t they? Though the difference between hacking a prototype together and a finalised product can be miles apart; often due to the wall of notes, sketches and diagrams clamouring for me to finish them.

Too often Tech is seen as a barrier to Creativity, during this session we’ll look at examples of ‘codeless’ development, so everyone can get their hands dirty. It’s about changing your career through Open Source, collaboration and Physical Computing. It’s about doing it for yourself and not being reliant on your boss and that 9-5.

There’ll be real world case studies to go along with more whimsical projects for pitches and personal work that’s just a bad punchline.
